Brewer 

We are looking for an experienced Brewer to join our production team in Manchester. 

 

Key responsibilities:
This is a very hands on role. You’ll be joining an award-pending and truly collaborative business increasing our production team from four to five people. We believe that it’s most rewarding for our brewers to be equally involved in all aspects of the production process on weekly rotation therefore you will have the opportunity and be required to be involved in; recipe development, brewing, cellaring, packaging and warehousing. We’ve heavily invested in a clean and mixed ferm barrel program which you will also be involved in. We’ve also got a busy festival schedule planned allowing you the opportunity to represent Pomona Island at these events.

 

Duties include:

  • Operating our manual 3 vessel 17HL Pureweld brew kit

  • Cellar management; yeast handling, fermentation control, dry hopping and carbonation, barrel program checks

  • Operating our Microcan CL5 canning line

  • Filling both cask and keg

  • Bottling our clean and mixed ferm barrel-aged beers

  • Warehousing, palletising and packaging orders for distribution and retail

  • CIP of brewkit, FVs and packaging lines 

  • Detailed and accurate record-keeping across all aspects of production

  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the production facility 

  • Stock management and control

  • Travel to festivals and events representing the business 

 

Key Competencies and Experience:

  • At least two years working in a brewery production team 

  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness 

  • Ability to maintain accurate records 

  • Strong time management and multitasking skills 

  • Effective communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge of memes 

 

Nice to haves:

  • Relevant brewing qualification (IBD, Brewing MSc, Food Science etc) 

  • Forklift truck driving experience

  • A Casio F-91W and a willingness to synchronise to Pomona time 


What we offer:

  • Up to £31,000 per annum dependant on experience, reviewed annually

  • Brewing qualifications training with the IBD

  • Forklift truck licence

  • Casio F-91W for work scheme
